I’ve just shown an antique to one of you: a prized, early album of Dave Von Ronk, alluded to on Dylan’s first album, when he was still unsure if he was Zimmerman or Guthrie: and aging in my kitchen closet for a generation which saw compact discs, cds, and I-tunes supercede “Blue Monday” on Mercury Records….

We were talking about intellectual property: the claim that what I think when thinking about Mickey Mouse is really not mine because it is owned by a corporation …. When I understood that my entire education: that chain or train of intellectual transmission by academic reference and citation, by painful parsing with sign-off by dissertation committee, has been superceded by MASHUP: that it simply IS what it IS…. As the philosopher said (dasein>>) “thrown”….. and that’s it.

Bottom line: post references and provenance: what’s it gonna do? Where is its value?
